iOS 5 Untethered Jailbreak a Fake, Apple Fans Warned of Bogus Software

It has been confirmed that the “FastRa1n” software tool claiming to offer an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 devices for a fee is a fake.

The iPhone Dev Team, which is a site offering genuine and free jailbreaking and unlocking software for Apple products such as the iPhone and iPad, has confirmed that the FastRa1n tool is fake, according to IBTimes.

A representative from the iPhone Dev Team explained that the software is fake and told iOS 5 users not to pay the $25 fee or they could risk losing their money.

He added that a free and reliable version would be available soon and advised users to be patient and not be tempted by the fake deal.

It was reported last week that a tethered jailbreak was on offer for iOS 5 devices; this would allow Apple products to be jailbroken.

FastUnlockiPhone.com claims to offer this service, however, it is now thought the site is a fake.

The suspect site requires customers to pay $24.99 for an untethered iOS 5 jailbreak, called “FastRa1n v5.0.”

Usually authentic Jailbreaking for Apple devices has been made free in the past, and numerous online forums show advice stating that if somewhere is trying to charge for the service it is probably bogus.
