iOS 5 Untethered Jailbreak: Another 'Fake' Jailbreak Emerges
Expert jailbreak developers, the “iPhone Dev-Team,” are yet to announce an untethered jailbreak for Apple’s latest operating system, the iOS 5. However, Ghostapp.org has recently released an untethered version for just $25.
The Ghostapp website states that it can unlock all iPhones from the iPhone 3 to the iPhone 4S in just five minutes. The website also claims to jailbreak the iOS 5 on the iPhone 4.
However, numerous commenters on tech blog sites have been skeptical over the authenticity of the Ghostapp claims; many highlighting the fact that jailbreaks are usually free to download.
The famous Dev-Team has already released a free tethered jailbreak called “Redsn0w,” and an untethered version called “FastRa1n 0.5” has also previously been released by FastUnlockiPhone.com.
However, the Redsn0w does not allow any jailbroken iOS 5 device to boot by itself; a reboot must be initiated by the user connecting it to the Redsn0w installed computer. On the other-hand the FastRa1n 0.5 allows unlimited reboots by the standalone device.
Whereas the tethered Redsn0w comes as a free download by the well-known Dev-Team, the FastRa1n charges $25 and offers no trial or demo version. In particular, Apple users should beware as a Dev-Team representative posted on Twitter that the FastRa1n is a fake. The rep added that a free, reliable version would be made available by his team soon.
