iOS 6 Receives an Early Tethered Jailbreak

iOS 6 launched for developers earlier this week and it appears that the software has already been jailbroken.

This early tethered jailbreak known as Redsn0w was developed by the Dev-Team, and works with the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and the fourth generation iPod.

Unfortunately, it does not work for the iPhone 4S.

The jailbreak appeared in a Twitter post by a user named MuscleNerd.

"redsn0w tethered iOS6 jailbreak for 3GS and A4 devicesis.gd/MCbq7A (developers ONLY please!.. no Cydia, just SSH+afc2)," tweeted MuscleNerd earlier today.

The installation process is fairly simple, according to YouMobile.org. Anyone interested in accessing the jailbreak must download the iPhone Dev-Team redsn0w tool and the iOS 6 Beta IPSW firmware file from Apple. After that the user must mount the IPSW file, and then rely on the tool to unlock the software.

The official launch for iOS 6 will take place in the fall.

The software will be available for the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, as well as the second- and third-generation iPad. It will not be available for the original iPad.

iOS 6 packs 200 new features, including updates for Siri plus better Facebook and Twitter integration.

Other basic functionalities have been updated as well on iOS 6 including the phone app, photo stream, and camera app.

Users making calls now have a Slide up incoming call slider where they can choose to ignore the call and be reminded to call a person back or can text them a reply when receiving a call.

Siri can now start up various applications. For example; if a user wanted to get a game of Temple Run going quickly all they would have to do is say "Play Temple Run" to Siri and it will automatically start the game.
