iOS 7.0.3 Download to Restore Protective Filters to Apple Devices

Apple accidentally disabled the protective filters on iPads when they rolled out the iOS 7 update last month.

This could potentially be dangerous for children who use their iPads for school purposes as they could end up navigating to sites created specifically for adults.

One school voiced their concerns to parents in an AllThingsD report earlier today.

"Apple did not realize that installing iOS 7 would remove our (and thousands of organizations across the country) safety protection measure, which now makes the iPad devices unfiltered when accessing the Internet away from school," said a memo from the Manitou Springs (Colo.) School District 14 to parents.

"In the short term, the district will be collecting iPad devices at the end of each day until the safety protection measure is reinstalled," they continued.

Apple responded to some of the complaints.

"Some business and education users have reported that their supervised devices have reverted to unsupervised when they upgrade to iOS 7," said Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller to AllThingsD. "We are aware of this issue, and will have a fix this month."

This fix could end up being included in the iOS 7.0.3 update that is expected to roll out in the near future.

Apple seeded the build to employees and partners for final testing at the beginning of this week which indicates that it should not be too long before all users receive it. BGR expects it to start rolling out next week.

Apple first released iOS 7 as a free update on Sept. 18 for the iPhone 4, 4S, and 5 along with the iPad 2, iPad, iPad mini and fifth-generation iPod touch. iOS 7.0.1 and iOS 7.0.2 were released shortly after and featured various bug fixes.
