iPad 3 Release Date Announcement to be Made Within a Month

The announcement for the release of the highly anticipated iPad 3 could be just weeks away. A publication recently published a report that Apple could be unveiling its plans as early as the first week of March.

"Sources say the company has chosen the first week in March to debut the successor to the iPad 2 and will do so at one of its trademark special events," according to tech blog AllThingsD. "The event will be held in San Francisco, presumably at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Apple's preferred location for big announcements like these."

The Wall Street Journal blog also commented also commented more specifically on the release date of Apple's upcoming tablet.

"No word yet on a street date for the iPad 3 (assuming that's what it's called), though my guess is retail availability will follow roughly the same schedule as that of the iPad 2: available for purchase a week or so after the event," added AllThingsD.

Tech site 9to5Mac pointed out that the date of March 7 is currently available at the Yerba Buena Center if Apple wants to make its announcement then. If the announcement is made that day than the tablet will most likely launch somewhere around the 15 if Apple sticks to its usual game plan.

The iPad 2 was announced on March 2 of 2011 and launched just a little over a week later on March 11.

AllThingsD also backed up some popular rumors regarding the next generation iPad. The blog reported that will have an HD display, a faster GPU/CPU and a similar design to the iPad 2.

Japanese blog Macotakara also leaked an image of what could be a high resolution panel made by an Asian manufacturer of the iPad 3 earlier today. They also reported an early March release for the device.
