iPad 3 Release Date: Hardware Parts Shipped for Development
New reports said the display parts for the iPad 3 were reportedly shipped.
Sources for technology website DigiTimes first reported on the rumor.
"Samsung Electronics, LG Display and Sharp reportedly shipped a total of one million units of high-resolution flat panels for next-generation iPads to Apple in October and will ramp up shipments to two million units in November,” said DigiTimes.
"With the specifications of touch modules for the new iPad are comparable to those set for iPad 2, touch module makers TPK Holding and Wintek are expected to begin shipping their products to Apple in Mid-November to December, the sources indicated, adding that combined shipments from the two companies will top over one million units a month,” DigiTimes added.
Apple’s contract maker Foxconn Electronics will reportedly assemble the next iPad tablet. This is set to begin sometime around January 2012.
Apple is also said to be developing a smaller iPad device with a 7.85-inch size. AU Optronics and LG Display are the two development companies that have reportedly sent sample displays to Apple.
A few forum users for technology website 9to5Mac are looking forward to the iPad 3.
"I have yet to dive into the tablet market and was going to test the waters with the Amazon Nook, but with the less than stellar reviews I think I will wait for the next iPad. A higher resolution display will be a big plus for use who intend to use it primarily as a replacement for sales product binders," said forum user Uhweqhe Jheqhe.
"Apple: you never disappoint me. It just amazes me how the competition started with a war and now they're claiming for mercy. Let's wait till next year, prepare your pockets," said forum user JohanRolwen.
The iPad 3 may be arriving in March 2012. Industry analysts previously reported that it could be a minor updated tablet with a thinner design.
