iPad 3 Rumors Confirmed by Leaked Prototype

An unnamed source that spoke to BGR recently claims to have gotten their hands on an official prototype of the upcoming iPad 3 and has leaked some information regarding the device's features.

"A source claiming to be in possession of an iPad 3 prototype provided BGR with images containing details about Apple's highly anticipated third-generation tablet," wrote the site.

"From the data in the photos, which contain the output from an iPad 3 using a development debug tool called iBoot, we can infer plenty of information about the upcoming iPad 3," claims BGR.

The reports from BGR confirmed that the device will be using the rumored A6 chip that will feature quad-core processing speeds. The publication also stated that this chip will make the iPad 3 the fastest iOS device to date surpassing the current iPad and iPhone 4S that include the A5 chip.

This A6 chip that features quad-core processing speeds is nothing new in terms of news, however, it is interesting to see that it might actually already exist.

The iPad 3 is expected to launch sometime in March, according to a recent report from Bloomberg that also revealed that production has already started on Apple's tablet.

The report also stated that production would reach full volumes by February.

Apple's update for iOS 5, iOS 5.1 is also supposed to roll out when the highly anticipated tablet is released. The company seems to be waiting specifically for a new device in order to have the upgrade ready for its iPod touch and iPhone.

Prototype leaks seem to be highly unreliable. Back in the summer an Apple employee was seen holding what was rumored to be the next-generation iPhone sporting an iPod touch-like frame. However, this proved to not be the next Apple handset since the iPhone 4S ended up looking identical to the iPhone 4.
