iPad 3 Rumors: Images of the Device's Back Shell Leak

Images of a back-shell that could be for the iPad 3 leaked onto the internet yesterday and were posted on tech site 9to5Mac.

The site explained what it found when further investigating these images. "Since a purported iPad 3 back-shell image leaked earlier today, we have dug into the story to uncover where it originally came from and some of the intricate details behind the part," wrote the site.

What it found was that this back-shell is one of many of the same parts floating around China being sent in and out of repair shops. This information leads the site to a promising conclusion.

"This gives credence to reports about the iPad 3 is in production, and it likely means things are moving full steam ahead of the rumored March launch," wrote 9to5Mac.

The original image that surfaced actually came from a Chinese supplier who normally provides parts to iPad repair shops all over the world, according to the site.

It was also able to find a high resolution shot of the part that is supposedly being produced for Apple's next generation tablet.

The iPad 3 is rumored to have a Retina Display, an A6 chip with quad-core processing speeds, improved graphics and an upgraded camera. These leaked shell images also would lead Apple fans to believe that the iPad 3 will most likely resemble the iPad 2 in terms of appearance.

Another tech site called Apple.pro also obtained photos of the iPad 3 back shell and what it found was that the camera lens is larger than the one included on the iPad 2. The site also confirmed that the iPad 3 would feature magnets to support the Smart Cover.

The iPad 3's release date is expected to be announced in the coming weeks and launch sometime in March.
