iPad 3 Rumors: Tablet Will Not Have Quad-Core Processor
The iPad 3 release date should be arriving sometime in March and the newest addition to Apple's tablet line has been expected to include a quad-core processor for quite some time now.
Shortly before the 2011 holiday season, tech site 9to5Mac reported that Samsung was developing an A6 chip for Apple that would be used for the upcoming iPad 3 and the next-generation iPhone. This A6 chip would feature quad-core processing speeds making Apple's devices some of the fastest on the market.
But that rumor was shot down by an internet tech show known as The Verge.

Shortly after photos that were rumored to be the back-shell of the iPad 3 surfaced on the internet yesterday, The Verge reported that Apple's next-generation tablet would not include the rumored quad-core processor.
9to5Mac commented on the Verge's claim stating that it doesn't match up with some other information that came from Apple.
"The Verge's report contradicts findings inside beta builds of iOS 5.1 and a report from the typically accurate Bloomberg," wrote the site.
The Verge is claiming that the next-gen iPad will be a dual-core device, but also said that it will include an improved GPU with a new graphics processor to make its rumored new Retina display run a lot smoother.
9to5Mac also claims to know the chip's codename that Samsung is currently producing for Apple.
"We deduced from earlier reports that the processor is codenamed "S5L8945X," and it comes out of Samsung, who is busy working on both dual and quad-core processors for its own devices," wrote the site.
The upcoming line of Samsung tablets and the Galaxy S3 smartphone are expected to include quad-core processors as well. It would be hard to believe that Apple would not want to keep up with the competition in this situation.
