iPad 3 to Launch at 'Strange' Media Event?

Japanese blog Macotakara is at it once again, pitching in to the rumor mills stating the Apple will release the iPad 3 sometime next month and debut the device at a "strange" media event.

Here's is a machine translation of the report.

"I reported that Apple was going to hold Special Event in early February according to Asian supplier and source from united states, but this report told a half-side of truth. Apple will hold 'Strange' event at February instead of Special Event," read the report.

The blog made a claim earlier this month, stating that Apple's contract manufacturers Foxconn Electronics and Pegatron Technolgoy had issued orders for the assembling of next-gen iPads for an early-March launch.

The blog originally reported that Apple was planning an event to announce a brand new iPad due out in February and it was meant to go on sale the following month. Now, it claims it has heard from its sources in Apple's supply chain that this event to announce the tablet will be "strange."

What the sources meant by "strange" is unclear. Arnold Kim from tech site MacRumors contacted the author of the Makotakara report, who told him that the February event will not be a product event.

This story also confirms an earlier Bloomberg report that also backed the March launch timeframe by stating production will reach "full volumes by February." It also claimed that the iPad 3 will have an ultra high resolution display, quad-core processor and LTE functionality.

BGR's report from yesterday also confirmed the new display, LTE and even a debug tool.

With all these sources coming into agreement, there is a strong possibility that Apple fans will see the iPad 3 before the spring. The iPhone 5 is also expected to launch this year and is also rumored to be an LTE device.
