iPad 5 Release Date Scheduled for September
The iPad 5 release date could be scheduled for Sept.
Apple has just finalized plans for its fifth-generation tablet that will feature a design close to the mini model, according to a new report from DigiTimes.
The publication states that upstream suppliers have mostly finished preparing for the production of the new 9.7-inch iPad and that there will not be many changes made to the specifications for the device.
"Although suppliers have not yet received a firm mass production schedule from Apple and are mainly shipping products for pilot production, the sources pointed out that pilot production is already able to satisfy demand for the initial launch," wrote the publication.
Sources now expect Apple to give its shipment estimates at the end of July or early August.
The report also states that plans for the next iPad Mini tablet are still a bit unsettled as the company has not yet decided on whether it will incorporate a Retina display into the device. If Apple does decide to use a Retina screen, the release date will not be until the end of this year. The design on the tablet will feature even thinner bezels than what is found on the current version.
New iPad Schematics leaked onto the internet last month and showed a device that's slightly thicker than the current Mini version.
The device is also a lot thinner than the current 9.7-inch Apple tablet, according to this schematic that was leaked by French site Nowhereelse.fr. The 5th generation iPad has been rumored to feature a similar design to the Mini model for quite some time.
No information on the new full-sized iPad has been confirmed at this time so the measurements that derived from the schematic should be taken with a grain of salt.
