iPad 5 Rumors Regarding iPad Mini Resemblance Confirmed in New Leaked Photos

The iPad 5 design has been revealed in new high quality photos leaked this week.

The pictures arrived courtesy of Australian writer Sonny Dickson and give readers a better look at how the newly designed fifth-gen model. The photos confirm the recent rumors that point to the iPad 5 having a similar design to the iPad mini.

Smaller side bezels are present which cuts a good amount of bulk from previous versions. It should also make the tablet thinner, lighter, and smaller than the fourth-gen model.

The iPad 5 is expected to be unveiled by Apple on Oct. 22.The company will host a media event on that date to introduce the fifth-generation iPad and the iPad mini 2. Other devices and software set to make an appearance there include the new Mac Pro and OS X Mavericks.

The event's date was confirmed by AllThingsD, a site that has been pretty reliable in the past concerning information on Apple products.

"People familiar with Apple's plans tell AllThingsD that the company will hold its next invitation-only event on Tuesday October 22," wrote the publication. The focal point of the gathering will be the latest updates to the company's iPad line, but new Mac Pro and OS X Mavericks will likely get some stage time as well, I'm told.

The Oct. 22 event was also confirmed by The Loop's Jim Darlrymple.

The iPad 5 will feature a design that is quite similar to the iPad mini. This will make it considerably thinner, lighter, and will give it smaller side bezels. It's also expected to come with the same 64-bit A7 processor as the iPhone 5S and an 8-megapixel camera.

The new iPad mini will feature this new processor, an 8-megapixel camera, and a retina display. Recent rumors point to the device being in short supply at launch time.
