iPad 5 Release Date Set for Next Week, Device to Replace PCs
With the iPad 5 release date just around the corner, various sources have been weighing in on the role it will play in the computer market.
Apple apparently hopes to accelerate the trend of people using tablets instead of PCs, according to an investment note from Deutsche Bank Equity Research.
"We… expect growing [desktop] virtualization and iPad deployments in the enterprise to pressure corporate PC sales through 2014-15.. We expect AAPL's iPad refresh to include 64 bit architecture, which should enable a greater array of enterprise App development and facilitate greater enterprise penetration over time," wrote Deutsche Bank.

The establishment recently predicted that PC shipments would decline by 8 percent in 2013 and 6 percent in 2014. They recently raised both of those numbers by 2 percent.
Apple is expected to unveil two new iPad models at a media even on Oct. 15. This includes the fifth-generation model and the iPad mini 2. OS X Mavericks, the Mac Pro, and the Haswell-powered MacBook Pros are also expected to make an appearance there.
This new version of the smaller iPad will not be the retina model. The device was originally expected to launch sometime before the end of this year. Various reports including one published by Reuters earlier this month confirmed that Apple will have a hard time producing this model so releasing it next year will be the more sensible option.
A 12.9-inch iPad is also expected to be released sometime in 2014. This will further Apple's plans to replace PCs with tablets going forward.
This model has been reported in the past, but probably was the least touched on out of all these devices. Apple could be launching a tablet at this size in order to diversify its iPad line.
