iPad Pro 2018 Specs, Release Date: Tablet to Boast New 7nm Processor and Face ID?

Following the unveiling of the new iPhones, some users have shifted their attention to the new iPad Pro that is expected to be released next year.

Apple has introduced new features in its latest iPhone that are expected to be used on the new tablet as well. A surefire standout is the Face ID, which basically allows users to unlock the device with their face.

It is deemed much more convenient than the Touch ID, where users used their fingerprints to unlock their devices. The Motley Fool believes that the iPad Pro 2018 will definitely benefit from the Face ID much more than the smartphones.

Its bigger form factor will make the "powerful and secure authentication system," as Apple describes it, much more seamless in the tablet since the user's face will be in the line of sight of the scanner.

This means that, should the iPad Pro 2018 come with the Face ID, users will simply need to pick up the tablet and take one glance at it to immediately gain access to the device.

Meanwhile, since Apple has joined the bezel-less scene with the iPhone X, it is expected that the next-generation iPad Pro devices will also feature an all-screen front panel.

Since the display will be huge and the lack of bezels might cause accidental taps, the Cupertino giant is expected to incorporate side-touch palm rejection to prevent this from happening.

In terms of the hardware, the iPad Pro 2018 could end up being powered by the 7-nanometer node currently being developed by TMSC. As per Macrumors, the manufacturer expects the node to be in volume capacity by next year.

TMSC is making some much-needed alterations for the node to perform better, causing the 7nm node to offer 20 percent better density, around 10 percent higher speeds and 15 percent lower power while everything else remain constant.

This should make the iPad Pro 2018 far more powerful than its predecessor. The current models came with the A11 processor built on 10nm architecture, which already churns out impressive performance.

For now, however, nothing has been confirmed yet. Despite this, Apple's recent iPhone releases has many hoping that it would also go big for their next iPad Pro offering.
