iPhone 4S Customers Still Waiting in Line
iPhone users have been lining up outside Apple stores since the company’s release of the device’s latest technology last Friday, and continue to do so today.
The iPhone 4S is still in such high demand that company has since implemented a “reservation-only” pick-up policy to quay chaos and disappointment.
Written on Apple’s website is the message: “iPhone 4S is available in store by reservation only. Reserve yours after 9:00 p.m. tonight for pickup tomorrow. When you come in, you’ll choose a carrier and plan, and we’ll get your iPhone up and running before you leave the store.”
New iPhone carrier Sprint has witnessed incredible sales; Verizon and AT&T have also sold out of iPhones across the country.
Yesterday Apple announced that 4 million iPhone 4S’s were sold worldwide since Friday, twice as many as the original iPhone 4 of last year. The record exceeded expert analysts’ predictions by selling over 1 million more phones during its launch weekend.
Released Oct. 14 in seven countries, the iOS-based device will also be made available in 22 more countries by Oct. 28, and a total of 70 countries by the end of the year.
The success of the iPhone 4S comes as no surprise, as Apple marketing senior vice president Philip Schiller explained in a statement.
“iPhone 4S is off to a great start with more than 4 million sold in its first weekend-the most ever for a iPhone and more than double the iPhone 4 launch during its first three days. iPhone 4S is a hit with customers around the world, and together, with iOS 5 and iCloud, is the best iPhone ever,” concluded Schiller.
Last week Apple also released the latest operating system for iOS-based products, which comes with the company’s online storage and synchronization tool, iCloud. iOS 5 received over 25 million downloads within just five days according to Apple. The system is applicable to devices iPad, iPod, and the iPhone.
