iPhone 4S Release Date: Best Buy Customers Still Haven't Received iPhone 4S
Best Buy customers who pre-ordered their Apple's iPhone 4S have complained about not getting their smartphone.
Best Buy said the cause for this problem is due to the overwhelming demand for the iPhone 4S on Sprint's network.
"All pre-orders are being fulfilled with the first available inventory, in the order in which they were received,” said Best Buy in a statement. “We apologize to those who have experienced any inconvenience."
The company has not announced how many customers are still waiting for their pre-ordered iPhone. However, Best Buy said it is hard at work and trying to get everyone their smartphones soon. Best Buy requires customers to pick up their iPhone 4S from the same store location from where they pre-ordered.
GizmoCrunch, a technology website, detailed the Best Buy dilemma for its readers: "Yup. We are seeing this too in Chicagoland. I got 2 Sprint iPhone 4S's 16GB in pre-order since October 8th. I was told on launch day that I was the '11th' in line. Just came back from Best Buy today and 0 Sprint iPhone 4S's have shown up and I'm still the '11th' in line."
Todd Gowin pre-ordered his iPhone 4S on Oct. 7 at a Best Buy store in Silverdale, WA.
"I was excited, first one in the store to pre-order,” wrote Gowin on GizmoCrunch. “They said, 'Hey, it will be in on the 14th and we'll get you all set up."
However, when Oct. 14 came around, Best Buy told Gowin his smartphone was not available.
"I could have ordered from Sprint,” Gowin wrote. “I could have ordered from Apple. I went through Best Buy because we bought things there in the past and we've had no problems. Now I buy something and we can't find out where the thing is we purchased."
Despite a few hiccups, the iPhone 4S is still a success. Reports indicate that the iPhone 4S sold over 4 million units since its release.
