iPhone 5 Could be Cheaper Than Predecessor Thanks to Advanced Technology
Many anticipating the release of the iPhone 5 are bracing themselves, expecting to have to pay hundreds of dollars for Apple’s latest smartphone.
However, rumors indicate that the iPhone 5 will be fairly affordable and may be priced within the same range as the current iPhone 4.
The standard 16gb iPhone 4 sells for $199 with a two-year contract while the 32gb sells for sells for $299.

Daily Finance notes that Apple’s trend of keeping the price of its most recent introductions such as that iPad 2 relatively stable is a good indicator that the iPhone 5 price won’t vary wildly from that of the iPhone 4.
Despite various anticipated advancements such as the rumored iOS 5 upgrade, possible 4G capabilities and a higher resolution, 8MP camera, the iPhone 5 is expected to be a great value for its price.
Continuous advancements in technology saw prices drop from a whopping $600 for the original iPhone to where they are now.
Previous versions such as the iPhone 3GS sell for just $49 with a two-year contract with AT&T and Verizon Wireless carriers. It is rumored that Apple has now added T-Mobile and Sprint among its roster of iPhone carriers.
Daily Finance says that once the iPhone 5 debuts, its predecessor the iPhone 4 will most likely see a similar price drop in order for Apple to maintain a more affordable smartphone option, but estimates that the price will be about $99.
There also remains a possibility that Apple will release two iPhones in the fall, one successor to the iPhone 4 and another cheaper prepaid model.
Speculation indicates that the iPhone 5 will be available in stores in late September or early October.
