iPhone 5 Release: Apple CEO to Unveil Smartphone Oct. 4
Apple is planning a media event for Oct. 4 in which its new CEO, Tim Cook, will unveil the iPhone 5, according to AllThingsD.
Sources close to the situation told the tech site that Oct. 4 is the scheduled date for Apple’s next big media event where the tech giant will finally give the public a look at the next generation iPhone.
John Paczkowski of AllThingsD warns that Apple could change its plans at any time.
The event confirms rumors that the new iPhone would be released in early October.
Both AllThingsD and 9to5 Mac confirmed that sources close to Apple revealed to them that the iPhone 5 would drop early next month.
Apple originally planned to start pre-orders for the device on Sept. 30 to lead into the arrival of the iPhone in early October, according to 9to5 Mac.
Tech blogs such as 9to5 Mac and AllThingsD have been posting rumors of the early October release since August.
The next generation iPhone is expected to be available on four of the U.S.’s major service providers including AT&T, Verizon, and newcomers to carrying the iPhone, T-Mobile and Sprint.
But most of this information is still unconfirmed.
Sources close to Apple seem to be leaking information every couple of weeks but they are not always accurate.
The company may be stalling on the iPhone 5 with the intention of surprising the public rather than rolling along with what the rumors are saying.
The device has been shrouded in secrecy, but the public may finally get some kind of preview Oct. 4 at the Apple event.
