iPhone 5 Release Date: Could This Mark the End of the Blackberry?

Apple is expected to unveil its new iPhone 5 at a media event on October 4, a device that is rumored to be making its way to Sprint customers.

With iPhone expanding its horizons to companies like Sprint and T-Mobile, the already declining Blackberry could be completely crushed by Apple’s new device.

Research in Motion, Blackberry’s creator, has already lost a significant amount of market share in the smartphone war to Apple and Android.

RIM’s sales have plummeted in the U.S. at an alarmingly fast speed, according to the developer’s latest reports.

By Verizon gaining the iPhone, many customers at the network quickly ditched their Blackberrys for a high powered Apple smartphone.

Subscribers at AT&T, the smartphone’s original carrier, are also switching over to the iPhone more frequently.

The hype for the iPhone 5 is undeniable.

Anyone claiming to have any information on the device immediately demands the attention of thousands on the internet.

With a buzz this crazy, the release of the new Apple device on more networks, will likely lead to less and less Blackberry users.

The price on the iPhone 4 will likely drop once the next generation version is available so sales on that device will continue to steal RIM customers at a fast rate.

If the iPhone 5 is revealed by Apple’s CEO Tim Cook on October 4 as expected, then RIM should prepare to take another huge hit.

The company seems to have issues with keeping up with the competition when it comes to its smartphones.

Androids and iPhones blow Blackberrys out of the water when it comes to specs, features and capabilities.

RIM is planning to launch all new versions of the Blackberry Bold, Curve and Torch in the near future.

But the reviews have been lukewarm for the devices.

Unless the developer steps it up soon, RIM will have a tough time staying in a market dominated by higher powered devices.
