iPhone 5 Release Date: Design Concepts Surface for iPhone 5 or iPhone 6?
New design concepts for the iPhone 5 have surfaced less than two weeks after the release of the iPhone 4S.
Graphic Artist Antonio de Rosa released renderings of Apple's next generation smartphone based on rumored specifications.
Those rumored include a larger home button, aluminum unibody, 4.3-inch retina display and a dual-core Apple A6 processor.
The artist's renderings are the first conceptual images proposed since the iPhone 4S’s release.
The iPhone 4S has garnered millions of fans since its Oct. 14 release, but many analysts and Apple customers are disappointed that the smartphone does not include any hardware updates.
The iPhone 4S retained the original chassis of the iPhone 4, but received major software updates, such as a faster processor, better battery, iOS 5 update, and its premier voice command feature, Siri.
Many Apple fans were hoping for a curved, tear drop body for the iPhone 4S and a wider screen. Both features were rumored for the smartphone before the Oct. 4 unveiling.
The new concept images for the iPhone 5 suggest that Apple enthusiasts have a renewed expectation for a completely revamped iPhone.
Some commentators have also proposed that the next Apple smartphone should be called iPhone 6, because the iPhone 4S currently stands as the fifth-generation iPhone.
However, industry experts continue to use the name iPhone 5, because Apple has veered away from naming its iPhone according to generation.
The iPhone 5, or iPhone 6, is said to be the last project headlined by Apple’s late founder and CEO, Steve Jobs.
