iPhone 5 Release Date: Galaxy Nexus vs. iPhone 4S/5

Google and Samsung revealed their new Galaxy Nexus smartphone yesterday which includes an impressive 4.65-inch Super AMOLED display that topples anything Apple has put out in terms of size.

Apple’s iPhone 4S features a 3.5-inch screen which does not differ much from its predecessor, the iPhone 4.

During the unveiling of the Galaxy Nexus at the “Mobile Unpacked” media event in Hong Kong this morning, video was shown on the new device in a 16:9 widescreen ratio.

This type of display can rival most HD televisions.

Apple’s iPhone 4S is not the most impressive device for watching videos.

As far as hardware, the Galaxy Nexus includes a 1.2GHz processor while the iPhone 4S remains at 800MHz.

Samsung’s smartphone comes with 1GB of RAM and the latest iPhone only features 512MB.

Another area Apple seems to lack in is NFC (near-field-communications) technology, which allows the Galaxy Nexus to utilize Android Beam, a feature which lets Android users transfer media by simply touching their phones together.

The iPhone 4S does not have NFC.

But there is still hope for Apple to compete.

Rumor has it that the tear-drop shaped iPhone 5 is still on its way.

This device is expected to sport a thin-tapered design which will make the new Apple smartphone as light as the Galaxy Nexus.

It will also have a much larger display which will rival the new Samsung smartphone.

The Galaxy Nexus features a smaller bezel so the screen reaches the very ends of the device’s body.

Apple’s iPhone 5 will include the same type of design, hence the tear-drop shape.

The Galaxy Nexus will also be available on LTE and HSPA+ networks.

The iPhone 5 is also expected to also run on 4G.

But Apple is intends to perfect the technology by including a smaller, less clunky antenna to catch its signals.
