iPhone 5 Release Date: Gmail App Released for iOS Devices
Google recently announced that is releasing a new Gmail application for the iOS devices, according to 9to5Mac.
“We’ve created a new Gmail app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. We’ve combined your favorite features from the Gmail mobile web app and iOS into one app so you can be more productive on the go,” said Google in an announcement.
The new app's features are listed on iTunes, such as notifications for new messages, threaded conversation views, priority inbox feature, the ability to send and open attachments and search capabilities.
“It’s designed to be fast, efficient and take full advantage of the touch screen and notification capabilities of your device,” Google added. “And it’s one more reason to switch to Gmail.”
The Gmail app will also give users access to archiving, labeling, starring, deleting and reporting spam.
“It looks like we are finally getting the full-fledged, feature-rich native Gmail experience on iOS we’ve been missing,” wrote 9to5Mac regarding the new app.
The first reports of Google releasing a Gmail app for iOS devices came earlier this week by MG Siegler.
Siegler reported on the app through a blog on Parlismon.com.
“Google is on the verge of launching their native Gmail app, multiple sources tell me,” wrote Siegler. “In fact, I believe it has already been submitted to Apple for review. If it gets approved, it should be out soon. And I think it’s going to be approved.”
There were some suspicions over whether Apple would approve a Gmail app for its operating system, but it seems Google and Apple have agreed upon a new app for Gmail.
