While close to 70 percent of the answers in the poll were “no,” one person called the release the “dullest update ever.”

Despite the fact that Tim Cook boasted about the new voice-recognition software, improved camera and speedier processor in the official Apple presentation on Tuesday, people expressed their disappointment in the product on Twitter.

Twitter trending topics such as “No iPhone 5,” “iPhone 4S” and “The iPhone 4S” revealed the feelings of disappointed consumers.

“That's it I was way wrong,” one person tweeted. “No iPhone 5! I'm buying an Android phone tomorrow."

Another spoke about the buildup surrounding the item’s release.

“No I phone 5 either,” the person tweeted. “After all the hype! lol"

Apple did not do to well on Wall Street after the iPhone 4S was revealed either, when the stock did poorly on Tuesday momentarily. PC Magazine further explained the reasoning behind the negative reaction by a large number of people.

“In this case, though, that hype machine appears to have backfired, raising expectations to unattainable levels,” the magazine stated. “Sure, the bar is always set pretty high for an Apple release, but this time the gap between anticipation and actuality is a chasm.”
