iPhone 5 Release Date: iPhone 4S Not Coming to T-Mobile
The iPhone 4S is not coming to T-Mobile, according to an announcement made today at the company’s “Let’s Talk iPhone” media event.
Apple did confirm that its new smartphone will be available on AT&T, Verizon and newcomer Sprint.
Unfortunately for its customers, T-Mobile was left out of the mix.
The carrier did express its interest in carrying the next generation iPhone with announcements made by T-Mobile’s CMO Cole Brodman last month.
Originally Brodman shot down the rumors of the device coming to the network, but changed his tune last week when he told the press that T-Mobile was just “waiting for the call” from Apple.
The carrier’s German parent company, Deutsche Telekom has been selling pre-orders for a new iPhone device for over a month.
Based on this news, T-Mobile was expected to carry the iPhone 4S when it was released.
The company not receiving the new iPhone could have something to do with the merger between it and AT&T.
Logically, if both carriers merge, T-Mobile will end up carrying the iPhone anyway since AT&T is the original provider of every iPhone model since 2007.
A T-Mobile deal could still be in the works.
Apple also did not speak on the rumored iPhone 5.
The company could be waiting for next year to debut the iPhone 5 and strike up an official deal with T-Mobile.
By now being available on three of the U.S.’s largest network service providers, Apple’s iPhone will most likely remain the highest selling smartphone in the nation.
T-Mobile would benefit greatly if it was able to offer the iPhone.
Samsung’s Galaxy S2 which was labeled the “iPhone killer” will be available on T-Mobile starting October 12.
T-Mobile will also carry the most powerful version of the device as compared to the Sprint and AT&T versions.
