iPhone 5 Release Date: iPhone 4S Unveiled But Where is iPhone 5?
Apple has revealed its new iPhone 4S, which features a new A5 chip, at its highly anticipated “Let’s Talk iPhone” event Tuesday. However, there was no word of the iPhone 5.
The iPhone 4S has a duel core processor and duel core graphics. The phone will also have up to 14.4 Mbps – but it looks exactly like the iPhone 4.
The iPhone 4S’ camera system “has already passed all other cameras and phones for taking pix and posting on Flickr,” according to Mashable blogger Lance Ulanoff.
Also, the A5 chip allows for seven times faster graphics.
The iPhone 4 accounts for more than half of all iPhones ever sold.
However, people are still wondering about the iPhone 5.
“I'm sure we'll all love the iPhone 4S. But the world at large is asking one question: where's the iPhone 5?” wrote Chris Taylor, live blogger for tech site Mashable.
Apple has also announced that the brand new iOS 5 has over 200 new features. However, Scott Forestall, Apple’s Senior Vice President of iPhone software, spoke about only 10 of the major features.
The new features included: “Reminders,” a location-based reminder via geo-fence, Newsstand, Twitter integration, and iMessage, a new messaging service between iOS users, among others.
The "Let's Talk iPhone" event ended with no news of an iPhone 5. However, Apple did announce new voice-recognition technology leveraging Apple's April 2010 acquisition of Siri, a voice-recognition app and service.
Siri will support English, French, and German languages.
According to analysts, the new smartphone will sell for $199 to $299 and $99 for the old iPhone 4.
