iPhone 5 Release Date: New App Will Monitor and Help You Sleep
A new iPhone mobile app has been launched to monitor how well you’ve slept.
Zeo has revealed its Zeo Sleep Manager Mobile this week which directly connects a headband worn at night to the smartphone wirelessly.
It is compatible with the iPhone, iPad and even an Android phone. The Zeo Mobile will chart how much you’ve been in a light, deep or REM sleep and will cost $99 at Best Buy in November.
Its previous Zeo Bedside system which has sold for $199 will be reduced to $149.
An EEG sensor in Zeo’s Mobile and Bedside system measures the brainwaves, muscle tone, and eye movement while you sleep. The headband has two silver patches to measure brain activity. The app also gives advice on what may be disturbing your sleep.
“Sleep has an amazing power,” Ben Rubin, the Zeo Mobile inventor told the Daily Mail. “It can affect recovery from disease, your mental energy - even your sex life.”
The map charts your sleep with different color bars that represent different “types” of sleep.
“Once you start measuring, you can start working out what's causing the problems,” says Rubin, “You input data about the room you sleep in and your lifestyle, and the app can suggest whether you should, say, use a blue light, or a new mattress or a relaxation MP3.”
Rubin went on to say, “When we started this company, the scientists we asked said, ‘You can't do this at home, you can only do it in the lab.’ Now this technology is available to anyone.”
