iPhone 5 Release Date: Prototype Model Details Emerge, Rumor Roundup (VIDEO)
An individual encountered a prototype build of Apple's forthcoming iPhone 5 smartphone.
Business Insider was reportedly contacted by an industry source that tested a prototype iPhone 5. This source gave out many details on this highly anticipated smartphone: "This source said that he spent about two weeks with one prototype version of this phone,” said Business Insider. "We've been told this by an industry source who has been right about future Apple products in the past."
"We have not been able to verify what he told us with a second source. So, we're still treating these details as rumors. You should probably still read this post with a nice fat dose of salt,” Business Insider added.
As for the specifications of the iPhone 5, the source released these details: "The prototype had a bigger screen than the current iPhone. It was 4-inches diagonal, like this Samsung phone. The new phones were supposed to have aluminum backs like the iPad 2."
"Eventually, our source hears, Apple wants to use its 'liquid metal' technology to make colored iPhones. Liquid Metal is like paint made out of aluminum, full saturated with color. Scratch it, and the color remains,” Business Insider explained. "The prototype our source played with had a screen with a messed up color profile…this leads our source to believe that the iPhone 5 was going to have a nicer screen with better colors."
The source also noted that Apple was planning to unveil this version of the iPhone 5 instead of the iPhone 4S, but the plan was soon scrapped.
The official iPhone 5 is expected to make its grand debut next year with a significant redesign.
Samsung is still planning to develop the A6 processing chip. Apple's upcoming iPhone 5 and the iPad 3 will feature Samsung's A6 chip. Samsung at the company’s Austin manufacturing plant is currently producing Apple’s A6 processing chip.
