iPhone 5 Release Date Rumors: Apple Smartphone Facing Production Issues?

Rumors have surfaced surrounding Apple's iPhone 5 and in particular that the device is suffering early production issues.

Seth Weintraub, blogger for the Apple tech centered website 9to5Mac.com, offered some details on some of the problem's hurting the iPhone 5 so far.

In his blog, Seth made this report: "It appears that the tear-drop shaped iPhone 5 with larger screen and thinner, rounder body is seeing continued design and production delays, at least on one assembly line (Apple has multiple production sources – Pegatron, Foxconn, etc). We therefore think that iPhone 5 will be delayed slightly at the very least and may see shortages all the way into 2012."

He also says that Apple is preparing to launch 10 million of the low-cost iPhone 4 units ready this October, with production set to increase ahead of the upcoming holiday shopping season. Weintraub notes that the much cheaper iPhone 4s will be "priced aggressively and be everywhere."

Another Apple-centric blog, MacRumors, said the company will reportedly send the “golden master” of its upcoming iOS mobile operating system to its iPhone and iPod Touch manufacturing partners sometime later this month.

Some rumors suggest that Apple is expected to debut two new iPhone models this Fall. The first one will be low-cost iPhone 4 model while another will be an iPhone 5 with an even larger screen. Also revealed is that the iPhone 5 will be a world-mode phone capable of running on both GSM and CDMA networks.

Other reports note that the iPhone 5 will be incredibly light and much firmer than Samsung Galaxy phones. The phone will also feature 8-megapixel camera along with an A5 dual core processor.

Case-Mate, which manufactures cases and holsters for smartphones and tablets, recently posted images of possible cases for the iPhone 5. The images revealed little to nothing about the smartphone’s possible design, but the news quickly before the pictures were taken down.

Rumors of Apple releasing the next iPad sometime early next year are also making the rounds.

This news joins the staggering number of rumors and leaks on the iPhone 5.
