iPhone 5 Release Date Set for October, Says Foxconn Rep
The iPhone 5 will be released sometime in October, according to a human resources representative from Foxconn, a primary manufacturer of Apple electronics.
An Asian website known as Kotaku recently reported on the matter highlighting the October launch.
"South Korea's Maeil Business Newspaper begs to differ," wrote the site. "According to a recently published article, the paper asked the head of human resources at Foxconn's Taiyuan factory about the iPhone 5 release date."
"The human resources head apparently told the paper, 'we just got the order,' continued Kotaku. "[The release] will be around October."
This report also contradicts what a Foxconn human resources representative and parking lot attendant told a Japanese news crew last week.
This company employee claimed that the new iPhone would be launching as soon as June 2012.
New iPhones normally are released in the beginning of the summer, however, the iPhone 4S was released in October of last year, altering the normal schedule of Apple smartphone launches.
The sixth-generation iPhone is expected to be called the new iPhone, being branded the same way as the third generation iPad was.
The smartphone will launch sometime in between June and Octpber of this year and will be Apple's first 4G LTE handset following the new iPad that was released last month.
Along with the addition of 4G LTE, the next generation iPhone is rumored to include a quad-core processor, a 4-inch display, NFC (near-field-communications) and wireless charging.
Apple is also rumored to be employing its arch-rival, Samsung to create OLED display for the new iPhone, changing from its traditional retina screen.
The smartphone's screen is expected to be full high-definition in order to match up to the current iPad, which features an HD Retina display.
Apple will face some competition from the Samsung Galaxy S3 that is expected to launch around the same time as the next iPhone.
