iPhone 5 Release Date: Sprint Ships iPhone 4S Early

Sprint has already begun shipping the iPhone 4S to customers placing their orders over the internet, according to 9to5Mac.

One of the site’s readers sent the tech blog a link to his purchase page which shows an order placed for the 32GB iPhone 4S.

The link displays a receipt in which the reader, whose name is Alex, paid a total of $315.36 for the new iPhone and it also shows the shipping date for October 9.

Instead of the device shipping out at the end of the week, which is the current release date, the receipt shows that Alex’s iPhone will be shipped to him overnight.

AT&T has also reported that their orders are no longer listed as “backordered” and are now being processed by AT&T warehouses across the nation.

The launch of the iPhone 4S has been the most successful Apple smartphone release to date.

Apple’s store on its website completely sold out of pre-orders on the iPhone 4S by Saturday.

AT&T reported that it sold 200,000 pre-orders along with Verizon and Sprint projecting to sell around 100,000 each.

Some have said that the success of the new iPhone could be due to the death of Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs.

Jobs passed away the day after the iPhone 4S was unveiled at the company’s “Let’s Talk iPhone” media event last Tuesday.

Despite customer disappointment with the iPhone 5 not coming out, sales for the 4S skyrocketed once pre-orders became available on Friday.

The iPhone 4S is a more powerful iPhone 4, maintaining the original shape but including an A5 processor along with an 8 megapixel camera capable of shooting video in 1080p.

Along with updated hardware, the smartphone’s version of iOS 5 includes Siri, the new voice navigation system which can perform tasks such as texting, by simply speaking into the phone.
