iPhone 5 Release Date: Sprint to be Exclusive Carrier? (VIDEO)
Rumors Surround Verizon Exclusive on the Newed Apple Phone
The great mystery surrounding iPhone 5 is about to come to an end Tuesday when Apple CEO Tim Cook is expected to reveal details on company’s latest smartphone during a scheduled media event. Continuing the marketing ploy that has served to make the iPhone the #1 selling mobile device on the planet, Apple began sending out invitations for the announcement event which will come at 1:00 EDT.
Though the invite does not specify exactly what the event will be, it is widely expected to be the official launch of the iPhone 5.
The question is not necessarily what the Phone looks like, but which of the big three mobile carriers will get the iPhone 5. Sprint has reportedly bought 30-million of the devises under a pact with Apple to be the exclusive Carrier for iPhone 5. That leaves ATT and Verizon with a patched up iPhone 4s, albeit with OS 5 just as the iPad II and a better camera.
There have also been rumors that the new phone will have more RAM than its predecessor and will have a slimmer form factor.
Whatever form the new device takes, it is likely to launch alongside iOS 5, the latest version of the operating system that runs the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices. Announced in June, iOS 5 brings an improved notification system, a task management system called Reminders and iMessage - a free, text message service for Apple users.
