iPhone 5 Release: Developers Port Siri from iPhone 4S to iPhone 4
Developers are attempting to port the iPhone 4S's virtual personal assistant, Siri onto the iPhone 4.
Siri was expected to be an exclusive feature for the iPhone 4S; however, developer Steven Troughton-Smith, in conjunction 9to5Mac, has already had success porting most aspects of Siri onto an iPhone 4.
Thus far, the team has loaded the iPhone 4S version of Siri as well as Springboard files onto an iPhone 4.

The developer’s video at the Youtube channel, psychochromatic shows a user accessing Siri’s interface from an iPhone 4.
9to5Mac notes that Siri on the iPhone 4 can understand spoken commands and works in both the standard Siri interface and the keyboard dictation interface. It can also speak back to its user.
However Troughton-Smith has not yet been successful at connecting to Apple’s servers because the company is not authenticating commands to its servers from the iPhone 4.
Another issue the developer ran into while porting the system was not being able to install a special GPU driver in the 4, which is included in the 4S.
This driver could not be found in the iPhone 4S’s binary cache, where the Siri files are located.
9to5Mac has noted that there is no technical reason why Siri could not run on the iPhone 4.
Its hardware is fully capable of supporting the Siri artificial intelligence system; the A4 processor in the iPhone 4 is said to be powerful enough to run such a program.
Apple has only stated that Siri will be exclusive to the iPhone 4S, no explanation as to why has been given.
Commentators have suggested that Apple may want Siri to be a program especially for the iPhone 4S due to its special microphone, or because the A5 processor in the iPhone 4S that may allow it to run faster.
