iPhone 5 to Hit Stores Fall 2012, Includes Aluminum Casing?
New rumors have suggested that Apple's upcoming iPhone 5 is slated for release in fall 2012 and will include several new physical features.
Technology website BGR.com has released a bevy of details surrounding the next iPhone. Their sources stated that the iPhone 5 will become available in fall 2012, which is around the same time Apple's iPhone 4S hit stores in 2011.
Previous rumors about the iPhone 5's release date pointed towards a summer 2012 release date. Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster, in a note to investors, predicted this release date for Apple's next smartphone model.
BGR.com's sources have also released details on the iPhone 5's physical features. "It will join the glass iPhone face with a new aluminum back plate. It will also cover a redesigned antenna system that surrounds the device, allowing Apple to build the rear case out of aluminum without having to use a large plastic insert above the antennas as the company does on its iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G."
Earlier reports suggested that the iPhone 5 will feature the same aluminum backing that the iPad 2 currently has. The display for the smartphone device was said to be 4-inches wide.
Other rumors circling the internet regarding the iPhone 5 say the new operating system from Apple, iOS 5.1, will make its debut alongside the phone. This OS is currently in its beta phase, however. This leads to rumors of an oncoming iOS 6. For the past five years, Apple has released a new OS every June or July. Some suggest that a beta version of iOS 6 could be coming in June 2012 for the iPhone 5.
Even though the anticipation for the iPhone 5 is high for those in the electronics industry, some consumers are less than enthusiastic about purchasing another iPhone shortly after getting the iPhone 4S.
Twitter users know that a iPhone 5 is coming and have commented on those who may be hurt since they bought an iPhone 4S beforehand. "Everyone who is getting an iPhone 4S for Christmas is going to be pissed when they release the iPhone 5 or another type of iPhone this summer," tweeted @DrkAngel.
Others are still excited about Apple's next smartphone. @Special_Planes tweeted, "I really want & need an iPhone 5! Or 4. I mean, whichever one works best."
New apparent rumors, analyst predictions and consumer opinions are running rampant about the iPhone 5 as the year comes to a close.
