iPhone 5 to Launch on T-Mobile in Next 4 Months
The iPhone 5 is expected to launch on T-Mobile within the next 4 months.
Reuters is reporting that T-Mobile USA is planning to release the iPhone in the next 3-4 months.
The carrier is also planning a similar timeframe for its move to end device subsidies in favor of installment plans and lower monthly plan costs.
T-Mobile confirmed last month that it has entered into a partnership with Apple in order to begin carrying its products in 2013. Both the iPhone 5S, and 5th generation iPad are expected to debut next year, so T-Mobile could potentially start selling Apple products when those two devices launch.
The company announced the news in a press release that informed the public about the investments T-Mobile is making in order to further its business.
"Around EUR 6 billion is earmarked for rolling out the broadband infrastructure in the German fixed network with optical fiber and vectoring between 2013 and 2020," wrote T-Mobile. "In addition, T-Mobile USA has entered into an agreement with Apple to bring products to market together in 2013."
This partnership should bring significant market growth to T-Mobile as the company is the only major carrier in the U.S. to not carry the iPhone or any other Apple products, including the iPad and iPad Mini.
The press release did not reveal what Apple products T-Mobile USA would be carrying, but it is safe to say that the iPhone will be their priority.
Both the iPad and iPhone are currently available on Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T, so it should work the same for T-Mobile.
The first carrier to have the iPhone in the U.S. was AT&T, who started selling it in 2007 with the launch of the original model. Verizon began carrying the device in January 2011 shortly after the launch of the iPhone 4, and Sprint started carrying it when the iPhone 4S was released in October of 2011.
T-Mobile was rumored to be the next carrier after Verizon, but Sprint ended up having it instead.
Now it seems that 2013 will finally be the year for T-Mobile.
