iPhone 5 Will Be Apple's First 4G LTE Smartphone

The third generation Apple tablet dubbed "The New iPad" was unveiled earlier today and will indeed feature 4G LTE connectivity.

With the company choosing to move forward into uncharted LTE territory, there can be no more doubts of the next generation iPhone including this same capability.

Samsung has already beaten Apple to the punch by releasing high-end smartphones and tablets that are 4G LTE. Some of these devices include the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket, Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy Tab.

So will Apple be late by waiting for the iPhone 5 to finally have 4G?

The rumor was that the company was waiting for the technology to be perfected. AT&T recently brought LTE to its New York City customers. Verizon also has many areas covered with its LTE network and T-Mobile and Sprint are working towards catching up to those carriers.

Not only did the iPhone 4S boost Sprint sales, but by it not being available on T-Mobile the carrier took a serious loss in terms of revenue. Many Apple fans were disappointed when the 4S was announced as a 3G device, but it was not that bad of news for Sprint customers.

3G is a dated technology and 4G seems to be coming into its prime. Apple seems to finally be embracing 4G by giving the new iPad the ability to connect to it.

The iPhone seems to command the smartphone market at this point by setting trends and perfecting various technologies. AT&T's rush to get LTE up was likely due to the new iPad and the upcoming iPhone. Sprint and T-Mobile know the serious loss that will be inflicted upon them if they do not have LTE in time for the next Apple smartphone.

The iPhone 5 is expected to debut this summer. It is rumored to include an A6 chip that ended up not making it to the new iPad.
