iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C Release Date Set for September 20

The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C release date will be on September 20 in Japan.

Both devices will launch in the country on that day, according to a report from the Japanese business newspaper Nikkei. This is just ten days after the smartphones will be unveiled on Sept. 10.

The report also states that SoftBank and KDDI will handle sales of the iPhone 5S and 5C. NTT Docomo will not offer the devices. It also confirms that Apple will launch the smartphone in the new champagne color and that the 5S will come with an upgraded processor, camera, and new fingerprint reader that will be integrated into the home buttons.

More iPhone rumors regarding a gold model surfaced last weekend.

The new device will launch donning the new metallic color, according to TechCrunches MG Siegler who detailed his prediction in a new report.

"Yes there will be a gold iPhone," he said. "That's the latest I'm hearing from multiple sources after several weeks of rumors and possible component leaks suggesting the same thing. At first, I couldn't believe Apple would break from the tradition of offering the simple choice: black and white (or "slate" and "silver" if you prefer for the iPhone 5) for their flagship device."

Siegler goes on to say that gold felt a bit too gaudy, however, a few compelling arguments changed his mind about the company using the color.

He states that the gold rear shell seen in last week's leaked photo is not a completely accurate representation of the color. Instead it will be more champagne-like, rather than gold. Siegler feels that Apple is using this gold model to upsell customers in emerging markets where the company's new iPhone 5C is expected to take off.
