iPhone 7 Release Date, Specs Rumors: Reports Predict September 2015 Apple Event to Launch
Barely a year after the launch and release of the iPhone 6 and 6 plus, reports are abound that Apple is set to launch another iPhone later this year, specifically September 2015.
While it is unconfirmed that there will be a new and better version of the iPhone, the reports are banking on Apple's predictability when it comes to introducing new models. In 2014, the iPhone 6 and 6 plus was launched early September and started selling soon after. The main reason for Apple's strategy is to keep up with competing brands in the smartphone industry.
PC Advisor rounds up in one report what is known so far about the upcoming Apple smartphone. The name of the new phone is unconfirmed, with speculation that the company may call it iPhone 6S or iPhone 7, or maybe even just the new iPhone. What the report points out with regards to the possible sizes of the new phone is that it will likely have a 4.7 inch version like the iPhone 6 and a 5.5 inch version like the iPhone 6 plus. It is more likely that it will not make any radical design changes from what the iPhone 6 looks like.
The iPhone 7 could have a faster processor. The report says that Samsung is working out a deal with Apple to supply new A9 processors, which will be made through a new 14-nanometer process. The A9 processor is rumored to be coupled with an M9 co-processor.
According to Mac World, the new phone's display may feature a 3D display as Apple is said to be working with another supplier to develop "naked eye 3D screen" which enables one to see without glasses. PC Advisor talks about the iPhone 7 having a "sidewall display" which may be similar to the Galaxy Note Edge.
Both reports talk about a big leap in terms of the new phone's camera. The iPhone 7 may be equipped with a dual-lens camera which gives the user "DSLR capture imagery." It may be Apple's answer to HTC One M8's dual-lens rear facing camera, which is already available in the market.
In terms of new features, the reports talk about wireless charging and a "reversible" USB charger for the iPhone 7. There may be an improvement on the phone's Touch ID system, with the fingerprint sensor being built into the main display.
Mac World also talks about Apple possibly incorporating Force technology which it already uses for the Apple Watch in the new iPhone. Force technology is a touch-sensitive display technology that "enables the device to differentiate between a tap and a press."
