iPhone 7 Rumors: Latest Rumors Say Apple Will Say Goodbye to the Headphone Jack
For consumers who were not so satisfied with Apple's recent iPhone release, the smaller iPhone SE, the iPhone 7 is their next hope for a bigger and better iPhone. According to the most recent rumors about the upcoming device, it looks as if Apple may be getting rid of the headphone jack in favor of Lightning earpods or even audio connection through the Smart Connector.
Apple Insider recently shared rumored spy shots of the device coming from China, which in their recent report was also confirmed by another source, a Japanese blog, as the "real thing." The blog specifically said that the case in the picture was in fact assembled by Catcher Technology, a known Apple manufacturing partner.
The image in question also featured a set of three dots located at the bottom part of the handset. These are the same dots that mark the presence of the Smart Connector port, which was first introduced in the iPad Pro series, but only for the Smart Keyboard. Apple has yet to announce if they are making audio accessories that can be connected via the Smart Connector.

Aside from the Smart Connector dots, the image also shows a dual camera set-up which is slightly raised.
The Japanese blog also confirmed earlier reports that the 3.5 mm headphone jack will no longer be found in the iPhone 7. In place of this, Apple will be making new EarPods that can be used via Bluetooth, and can be powered via the Lightning port. In addition to this, there are also rumors that there will be EarPods that will be "truly wireless" and these will be for sale. The EarPods that will come out of the box will be wired however and is connected via the Lightning port.
Without the headphone jack, the iPhone 7 is expected to be thinner than its predecessor, at about 6mm which is the same as the iPod Touch.
