iPhone 8 Plus vs Galaxy Note 8 Camera, Specs Reviews: Which is the Better Phablet?
Phablet enthusiasts are of two minds when choosing which gadget is better — Apple's iPhone 8 Plus or Samsung's Galaxy Note 8.
According to Know Your Mobile, Samsung has done a good job making up for the bad publicity it got due to the fiasco involving the Galaxy Note 7. Its latest gadget is reportedly beautifully engineered, with no recorded issues from the users so far.
However, the Galaxy Note 8 has a stiff competition in the iPhone 8 Plus, which was recently unveiled by Apple. When it comes to screen size and resolution, Samsung's offering is said to be better, with its 6.3 inch-display and 2960×1440 resolution at 521 pixels per inch (PPI). In comparison, the iPhone 8 Plus features a smaller 5.5 inch-screen and lower 1920x1080 resolution at 401 PPI.
In terms of performance, although the Galaxy Note 8 has a bigger RAM at 6GB, the iPhone 8 Plus' A11 Bionic chip is said to leave the other's Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895 in the dust. Storage-wise, both phones come in 64-gigabyte (GB) and 256 GB storage models, but the Galaxy Note 8 offers a 128 GB version, with options for expanding using memory cards.
The rear cameras are the same for both devices at 12 megapixels (MP), complete with 4K video and telephoto and wide-angle lenses. The front camera of the Galaxy Note 8 is 8 MP, while the iPhone 8 Plus is 7 MP. CNET reports, though, that the Apple device's front camera produces better images and works better in low lighting, perfect for taking selfies. When it comes to video recording, the Galaxy Note 8 is said to yield less "twitchy" outputs due to its optical and digital stabilization. The audio is also reportedly better, "fuller and richer" and closer to a "true stereo experience."
For those who prefer a sleeker design in their phablet, Samsung's device is reportedly sexier, with its near bezel-less, edge-to-edge screen. It also weighs less than the iPhone 8 Plus despite having a bigger battery than the latest Apple device.
