iPhone 8 vs iPhone X Specs, Features Comparison: What Is the Difference Between Apple's New Models?
Apple's long-awaited new iPhones have finally been unveiled. But what exactly is the difference between the iPhone 8 and the iPhone X?
First of all, there is a stark difference in pricing. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus' prices start at $699 and $799, respectively, while the iPhone X (pronounced "ten") begins at a whopping $999. There is a huge gap between the prices and that is something that a lot of consumers consider before purchasing a new gadget.
The iPhone X is also much bigger than the other two models. It has a 5.8-inch display with a screen resolution of 2436 x 1125 pixels. Meanwhile, the iPhone 8 has a 4.7-inch display with a 1334 x 750 resolution and the iPhone 8 Plus has a 5.5-inch display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution.
The larger screen of the iPhone X is attributed to its new design, which sees the whole front interface being covered by an edge-to-edge display. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, on the other hand, sport similar designs as the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.
With the iPhone X's new screen design, there is no space for a physical home button. Users can unlock their iPhone X using face recognition, which is also a new feature for Apple. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus do not have face recognition. Instead, they are sticking to the fingerprint sensor for security.
Other than that, the three models share a lot of similarities. They all run on Apple's new iOS 11 and are powered by an A11 Bionic chip. The iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X both have dual 12-megapixel rear cameras, while the iPhone 8 does not have dual capabilities. All three iPhones boast a 7-megapixel front snapper. They also come with wireless charging.
Storage-wise, all three devices are available in the 64 GB model and the 256 GB model. Finally, they are all equipped with dust and water resistance.
Consumers can start pre-ordering the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus on Sept. 15, with the models due out on the 22nd. The iPhone X will be available for purchase on Oct. 27 and will begin shipping on Nov. 3.
