iPhone Apps to Help Christians Stay on Top of Their Faith
Christians across the world are fighting to live their lives in a faithful and dedicated fashion. Amid an increasingly secular global society the following apps have been highlighted by The Christian Post to help keep Christians in touch with their faith, both in and outside of the sanctuary.
The Bible Lock Screen App allows users to put a Bible verse on their lock screen, which can help users memorize key verses, share the Word with others, or remind themselves to do the right thing. The lock screen, and therefore the Bible verse, appears for about eight seconds and is the first thing you see when you go to use your smartphone. It’s free and available for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
There are countless free and paid Bible apps available. For example, YouVersion is an app that provides access to 18 English Bible translations, including the New International Version, the American Standard Version and more. Users can touch a verse and email it, bookmark the passage, read commentaries, and even add their own commentary.

Olive Tree’s iPhone Bible software offers basic versions of the Bible for free, such as the King James and the American Standard Version. Extra versions are available for a fee, such as the NIV and other licensed versions. It offers a Bible dictionary, map and other study tools.
iTourSoftware.com’s KJV Bible Audiobook offers the luxury of its audio reading feature. Users can also make their own notes, bookmark passages, and there’s also a map feature and a history function for Bible verses read.

The Yaptap Church App is a leader-driven group messaging app for churches. This app allows worship leaders to create and manage contacts, control privacy settings, guide and moderate conversations, and assign messaging privileges to certain members. Each member chooses a preferred account – such as text, email, Facebook or Twitter – and messages go out to that account. There’s a 30-day free trial, and membership ranges from $10 to $70 per month. Custom plans are also available for congregations with over 500 members.
Big Church Bingo is a children’s app that was created by a mother of three who wanted to encourage her kids to listen in church. The app rewards children for listening to the sermon. To play, a grid of words the child might hear during the sermon appears in each game. When the child hears the word, they tap on it, and the icon darkens. Once the child gets five darkened icons in a row, he or she gets a bingo. It’s currently available for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
