iPhone news: Apple to unveil iPhone 5 SE in its March 21 Event?
Apple is hosting an event at its headquarters in Cupertino, California at 10 a.m. on March 21. While the date is confirmed, Apple gadget fans still have to hold their breath, as it remains uncertain which product will be launched. Nonetheless, it is widely suspected that the rumored smaller iPhone, speculated to carry the iPhone 5 SE moniker, will be unveiled at the event.
It was in 2014 when Apple took up the challenge of Samsung in terms of producing bigger-screen phones via its 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus. While it's true that the move helped Apple recapture its lost market share, the company's sales performance for the said iPhone models have grown stagnant.
As Apple reverts back to a smaller iPhone via the supposed iPhone 5 SE (special edition), it is believed that the company is pinning its hopes on the alleged device to spike up its sales once more. It has been reported that the rumored iPhone 5 SE will have the size of iPhone 5 and the "brain" of iPhone 6. While the iPhone 5 SE may possibly support Apple Pay mobile payment service, it is believed that other iPhone 6's impressive features, such as 3D Touch, may not make their way to the phone.
However, for gadget fanatics who don't have enough cash sitting around, the best rumor accompanying the iPhone 5 SE is the price tag it will reportedly carry. If the rumors and speculations turn out to be true, the yet-to-be-announced iPhone may have a price ranging from $350-$450.
Apart from the supposed announcements about iPhone 5 SE, Apple is also expected to announce a follow up to the iPad Air 2. As the company's tagline for its March 21 event is "Let us loop you in," there are some who suspect that the company will announce its headquarters at 1 Infinite Loop or its Apple Watch's new straps.
