iPhone X Price News: Apple's Flagship Phone to Cost Up to $1400 Overseas

Apple one-ups the competition by bringing the price segment of their new iPhone X to anywhere from $1,000 in the United States, and more for overseas, as the handset could cost as much as $1,400 in some regions.

The iPhone X is certainly exorbitantly priced at $1,000, although ultra-premium offers from rivals like the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 isn't far behind at $930. While a $1,000 phone is certainly a weighty decision for U.S. buyers, other Apple fans in other countries have it worse.

Far-off countries such as Russia will be selling Apple's latest flagship device for almost $1,400, as charted by Business Insider from Apple's own figures. Across the Atlantic, the European Union and United Kingdom buyers will not be getting a discount, certainly, at $1,377 and $1,338 for these regions, respectively.

This numbers may not be "Lamborghini" luxury statement phone-territory yet, but it could be edging close, the way Apple insists on pricing the iPhone. Even Mexico has the iPhone X going for upwards of $1,300, while the company could be selling them to China for $1,280 a pop, and in Australia for $1,259 each.

Tim Cook calls the iPhone X a bargain, though. In a recent interview, the Apple CEO describes the dollar tag of the new device "a value price," according to 9 to 5 Mac.

Asked if Apple could be keeping the iPhone X "out of reach" for the average U.S. buyer, Cook responded that it's a great value for what buyers are getting, plus people could get discounts, maybe.

"Well, it's a value price actually for the technology that you're getting. As it turns out, most people are paying for phones over long periods of time," the Apple chief said.

"Also, most people actually trade in their current phone, and some carriers throw in subsidies and discounts," Cook continued, before noting how the iPhone has "become so essential in our daily lives." Therefore, he said they have added more technology in it to be able to do more, and presumably, to be worth its staggering price tag.
