iPhones vs. Blackberrys - Apple's Smartphone Chosen by Businesses Ahead of RIM
Apple’s iPhone has become more dominant than Blackberry devices among businessmen and women.
Of 2,300 workers who took part in the survey by iPass, 45 percent of business people who took part in the survey said they owned an iPhone, along with 32 percent for Blackberry and 21 percent for Android-based smartphones.
This does not prove to be good for Research in Motion (RIM), makers of Blackberry, who suffered backlash from existing customers last month after their internet service outage. Only 2.3 percent of those surveyed said they planned to buy RIM’s device next year. However, the research was taken during Blackberry’s service outage.
The survey also shows that phones with Google’s Android operating system doubled from 11 percent last year. A further 11 percent of employees said they plan to buy an Android phone next year.
The report says Blackberry has not fallen in business use nearly as much as other devices have grown. A reason for this may be because more workers are being allowed to use their own mobile phones that aren’t provided by the company. This shows that more workers use their own devices rather than Blackberry phones issued by their companies.
The use of iPhone grew over 10 percent compared to last year. Over 18 percent of workers said they plan to purchase an iPhone next year.
