iPod Touch 5 Release Date Set For Next Week?
The iPod Touch 5 release date could be as early as next week as the only information Apple has provided on the matter is that it will launch in October.
The media device will also be priced the same as the rumored iPad Mini if the tablet ever ends up coming out.
Both the tablet and the Apple media device will cost $299 for the base model. This makes it unlikely for Apple to release the rumored tablet since it does not really seem needed. Although many publications are reporting that the mini tablet has already gone into production, nothing is official until Apple confirms it.
The fifth-generation iPod Touch being priced the same as the iPad Mini leaves little to no incentive for customers to purchase it since they would be able to buy a tablet for the same price.
The new iPod Touch will come in 2 different memory capacities including 32GB, and 64GB. The highest of these models will cost $399.
The media device features a thinner 6.1mm frame and a 4-inch display making it the same size as the upcoming iPhone 5. It comes with the A5 chip found in the iPhone 4 and is supposed to be 7 times faster than previous models. Users should be able to play 40 hours of music and 8 hours of video straight on its battery power.
It also features a 5-megapixel rear camera and a strap, making photography more appealing on the device. It can record video in 1080p and FaceTime in 720p. It can also take panoramic photos. The headphone jack has been moved to the bottom left on the new iPod and it comes with the redesigned Ear Pod headphones Apple debuted at its iPhone 5 event.
The fifth generation iPod Touch will be available starting in Oct. It also comes in multiple colors including silver, black, blue, yellow and red.
