'Iron Man 4' plot news: Robert Downey Jr. back to take on role
It was reported that the "Iron Man" franchise will receive another installment with Robert Downey Jr.
Previous rumors stated that Downey will soon be replaced by a younger actor for the role of Iron Man. It was speculated that Ty Simpkins, who had a role in "Iron Man 3," will be taking on the role of Iron Man. However, it was reported by Movie News Guide that Shane Black addressed the rumors. He stated that Downey will continue portraying the role of Tony Stark. However, the project is facing some struggles since it was recently put on hold. It was reported that Marvel Studios is currently in discussion with Downey concerning the actor's fee. Downey is allegedly asking for a higher salary, as proposed to his $50 million fee.
The actor received $80 million for his portrayal of Iron Man in the recently released "Avengers: Age of Ultron." He was recently billed as the world's highest-paid actor, followed by Jackie Chan and Vin Diesel. However, the issue seems to be settled since Gwyneth Paltrow had posted a photo of her and Downey at a beach, hinting that they have begun production for the film. Paltrow plays the role of Tony Stark's assistant and love interest in the franchise.
Meanwhile, Downey is also working on other Marvel projects such as "Captain America: Civil War." The film will explore a disagreement between Captain America and Iron Man. Furthermore, there will be another installment to the Avengers franchise. A two-part story titled "Avengers: Infinity Wars – Part One" and "Avengers: Infinity Wars – Part Two" will be released before the upcoming installment of the Iron Man franchise. There are also rumors that both Iron Man and Captain America will soon see the end of their superhero careers. Captain America's story is expected to be continued by Bucky Barnes, while it was not revealed if Iron Man's story will be continued.
"Iron Man 4" is expected to release around 2020.
