Is It Ever Right to Be Angry?
. . . Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. James 1:19
Parents had brought their children to the Lord Jesus so He could hold them and pray for them. When the disciples saw the children coming, they tried to keep them away. Jesus became angry with the disciples. He commanded them to let the children come to Him (Mark 10:13-16).
Another time, Jesus entered the temple (place of worship). He found people there who were buying and selling animals, exchanging money and cheating others. They had used God's holy temple for their own greedy plans. Jesus pushed them out and turned over their tables. He shouted, "My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations but you have made it a den of robbers" (Mark 11:17).

In both of these situations, Jesus was angry at sin. You, too, should be angry at sin. Be angry if someone offers you drugs. You should be angry when you hear God's name used as a swear word. Being angry doesn't mean that you sin. God's Word tells us, "In your anger do not sin . . ." (Ephesians 4:26). We are to be angry at sin, but not to let that anger control us. Ask God to give you a right attitude, especially when it comes to anger.
