Is Sony Lavender the New Sony T4 Ultra?

If rumors are to be believed, Sony may be working on a radical re-design of its flagship phone series. According to reports that came out as early as May of this year, Sony is said to be working on a bezel-less design for their smartphones.

A Tech Times report shared images that were leaked about a phone that is called Sony Lavender which features such a bezel-less design, a first for Sony. Sony Lavender is rumored to be released as the Sony Xperia T4 Ultra, with model number E5503. If this is true, it will be the first Sony smartphone without side bezels.

The phone's rumored specifications are a 5.5-inch display, with a 1,080 x 1,920 Full HD resolution, and a 401 ppi pixel density. Under the hood, it will have a 64-bit MediaTek MT-6752 SoC, which has an octa-core 1.7GHz CPU and the Mali-T760 GPU. Its RAM is at 2 GB. Both the rear-facing and front-facing cameras will be 13-megapixel and will have an LED flash. This will also be another first, having the same specs for both of the phone's cameras.

The leaks were coupled with reports that the new phone will be launched in August. It will be offered with dual SIM capabilities, 4G LTE connectivity and with Android Lollipop 5.0. Its price range will be between $280 and $300.

The Xperia T4 Ultra is said to be the company's new flagship phone although Sony has yet to make the official announcement. It is also called a combination of a smartphone and a tablet, rather than a phablet.

Since Sony has a habit of releasing different handsets for different markets, it is not yet known if the new phone is being made for the US market, for Sony's home market or for Asian markets. If these rumors are true, Sony is about to add another good-looking phone to its roster of smartphones.
