Isaiah Thesis Body Found by Police 26 Hours After Two-Year-Old Went Missing
The body of two-year-old Isaiah Theis was found by police in Wisconsin last night. No details were released about the condition of his body or what might have caused his death, but community members were somewhat relieved that there could be closure for the Theis family.
Isaiah wandered away from his home 26 hours before being found. He was reportedly playing with his 7-year-old brother when he went missing on Tuesday. Family and friends were concerned because Isaiah walked off without any shoes or socks on.
Foul play was not suspected, but police refused to state what possibly caused his death.
"He apparently [had] a proclivity to wander," Polk County Sheriff Peter Johnson told KMSP News. "He's been up and down the roads. He's been to the neighbor's house. He likes animals, so when you get a stray dog or the neighbor's cat that comes in the yard, he follows it."
Hundreds of volunteers turned out to search for the little boy, but that ultimately led to more problems. During the search for Isaiah, volunteers streamed into the nearby woods but apparently got lost themselves and had to be rescued.
"Pray for Isaiah Theis and his family. An officer found him tonight and unfortunately he did not make it. Rest in peace little angel," tweeted Danielle Kenney.
"Not the news update anyone was hoping for… 2 year old Isaiah Theis found dead by an officer just after 10pm," added Leah Beno.
The case has drawn national attention given Isaiah's young age.
"I love living in my small town. Horrible things don't happen here too often… tonight that all changed. RIP Isaiah Theis," tweeted Sasha Smith.
Isaiah's family has not spoken about their loss yet, and the press is respecting their privacy at this time. A press conference is scheduled for today, but it's not clear what details authorities will release about the tragic case.
