The Islamic State terrorist group has displayed yet another one of its gruesome methods of public execution, killing six men in Iraq accused of collaborating with the U.S.-led coalition and Kurdish forces by boiling them to death in vats of tar.

As IS (also known as ISIS or ISIL) has utilized various brutal and heinous styles of public execution in order to frighten people within its strongholds so that they won't dare challenge the authority of the group's sovereignty, IS leaders recently seem to have taken a liking to boiling their helpless victims to their demise.

After the militant group executed seven of its own jihadi soldiers who fled the battlefield in Iraq last month by tying them up and boiling them alive in a giant cauldron of water, an unamed source told Iraqi News that IS recently sentenced six men to death and boiled them to death in tar vats.

"ISIS executed six persons in Mosul for collaborating with Nineveh Operations Command," the source explained. "The death sentence was issued ISIS Sharia court."

"The six persons were placed inside tanks containing boiling tar and the execution was carried out in one of ISIS headquarters at al-Shora," the source added.

The source continued by saying that the execution was carried out in such a tortuous manner in order to intimidate local residents.

"The execution took place in public and it was done with an aim of inciting fear among the citizens," the source stated.

Media activist Abdullah al-Malla spoke with the Kurdish news site ARA News and explained that hundreds of onlookers were present for the execution. According to witnesses, an IS official read the charges against the men before the execution was carried out.

"Those mercenaries have cooperated with the crusader coalition and the Peshmerga in order to destroy the Caliphate territory and kill innocent Muslims in the name of freedom and democracy," the IS official was quoted as saying. "The Caliphate [Islamic State] will show no mercy to such traitors."

Militant Islamist fighters wave flags as they take part in a military parade along the streets of Syria's northern Raqqa province June 30, 2014. The fighters held the parade to celebrate their declaration of an Islamic 'caliphate' after the group captured territory in neighboring Iraq, a monitoring service said. The Islamic State, an al Qaeda offshoot previously known as Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, posted pictures online on Sunday of people waving black flags from cars and holding guns in the air, the SITE monitoring service said.

On Tuesday, another unnamed sourced told Iraqi News that IS exectued 12 more of its own leaders in Mosul on charges of fleeing the battlefield. The source added that the leaders fled after several IS fighters panicked when their strongholds came under attack by security forces.

"The leaders were executed by their counterparts from the outfit as they escaped from battlefields in Mosul without fighting against the security forces," the source explained. "Because the leaders ran away, ISIS suffered heavy loss — both material and of loss of their men."

The execution of IS leaders in Mosul is not the first time that IS has executed its own fighters.
In May, Kurdish commander Hasan Khala Hasan told the Iranian-based AhlulBayt News Agency that the barbaric group executed a number of its own commanders for failing to "accomplish their chief duties."

Hasan detailed that the leaders were tied to trees and left to be mauled by ferocious dogs.

Aside from using dogs, tar, water, guns, knives, wire and fire to execute its victims, one of the most horrifying IS executions allegedly occurred in May, when it was reported that IS executed 25 people accused of spying by dissolving them alive in nitric acid.

"ISIS put the citizens in a large tub containing nitric acid inside one of its headquarters," a source told Iraqi News at the time, adding that the victims were tied with ropes and lowered into the acid "till the victims' organs dissolved."

A recent report from the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism at the University of Maryland states that about 33,000 deaths have been linked to IS and IS-affilated groups since 2002.

Although IS proclaims that all its killings and violence are carried out in the name of Allah, IS documents recently obtained by The Associated Press show that just 70 percent of IS' earliest recruits had just a "basic" understanding of Sharia law and Islam.
